Press Release
GOP Watch As Their Base Disappears
October 08, 2007 01:53 PM EST

  • Warning to the GOP! - Many powerful conservative leaders recently met to consider a third party based on the heartland principles the Republican Party was founded on.

  • Frustration and a deep mistrust is growing among conservative voters with how GOP leadership have ‘anointed’ 3 top candidates who do not represent or unite the conservative base.

  • Conservative voters are being blackmailed and held hostage by top GOP leadership who fear only ‘anointed’ 3 top candidates can defeat Hillary Clinton in 2008.

For More information, read Daniel Gilbert’s remarks below:

Democrats are now out-raising Republicans by 2 to 1. How has top GOP leadership responded? By backing the top 3 candidates who do not represent or unite the base and continue to fall flat when courting traditional Conservative base.

As I travel around the country, many Republican voters, expressing deep frustration, often approach me. They are frustration that their voices were not heard prior to the GOP “thumping” of 2006. And, that their voices continue to fall on deaf ears in what is considered one of the most critical elections of our time. What is at stake is the survival of the Republican Party and the future of our nation.

Many Conservative voters complain the top GOP leadership, who insist only one of the top three GOP candidates can beat Hillary Clinton, is blackmailing them. Granted, another Clinton Presidency has the potential to cause great harm to our nation, but we can’t expect much any less harm, should one of the top three Republicans win the Presidency in 2008. There is a deep mistrust and uneasiness about the top three “anointed ones”.

Many Conservative voters have been disappointed with GOP leadership since 2004. Incumbents, who became drunk with power, abandoned grassroots conservative, who were responsible for their victories. Over-spending, proposed amnesty for illegal aliens and a lack of the backbone to stand up for conservative principles led to our historic loss of Congress in 2006.

Democrats did not win a victory in 2006 - Republicans ceded it for their lack of support for core Conservative issues; and the GOP refused to take notice. And further, The GOP poured salt on the wounds by prematurely anointing Presidential candidates who have either flip-flopped or thumbed their noses at conservatives.

What difference would it make should one of the top three Republican candidates become President? As the Democratic debate last week demonstrated, the Iraq war will likely not be a major 2008 election issue since. None of the top Democratic candidates committed to, and rightly so, a complete troop withdrawal. No President, Democrat or Republican, is willing to accept ‘blood on their hands’ that would resulting from a timetable of surrender.

Iraq will not be the deal-breaker in 2008. The Republican primary revolves around which candidate is going to curb an ever-bloated federal government, end oppressive taxation, respect the sanctity of life, uphold the traditional definition of marriage, and support LEGAL immigration. Unfortunately, the top GOP leadership has muddied the waters on these issues for the sake of top GOP candidates, who have engaged in a power grab in favor of opposition appeal to Clinton - Hillary-a-phobia.

Conservative Republicans should not feel powerless. Whether it be Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, or myself, it is not too late to rejuvenate the base. We the People candidates offer platform positions that will excite the base and the ability to energize support for conservative candidates and win in 2008. Grassroots appeal continues to be the heart of the Conservative movement and will succeed as long as we continue to support the heartland values we share.

It should be of major concern to the GOP that the man of the most powerful leaders of the conservative movement recently met in Salt Lake City, Utah, to consider starting a third party, based on the conservative and Godly principles that the Republican Party was founded on.

This clearly signals a lack of confidence in a GOP leadership that has anointed three top candidates that are flawed. One has major theology and flip flop/trust issue; another supports abortion, has committed adultery, and is so liberal that he can only be described, a liberal dressed in Republican clothing; and the third does not respect the sovereignty of our nation and is willing to grant amnesty to hundreds of thousands of people who came in to our country, ILLEGALLY.

Conservatives must demand a candidate who has heartland values, believes in the constitution, and will preserve the sovereignty of the United States.

Conservatives need to make it clear to the GOP that we will not go quietly into the night or into the ballot box. We will refuse to be taken for granted or cower to top GOP bullying. All it takes is one person to stand up against a bully to attract others who will do the same – will you?

GILBERT

for President

Conservative Principles
Heartland Values

In 2000 I voted for President Bush and the Republicans. I had high hopes that with Republicans in control of the legislative and executive branches that real change would occur in our government. I thought that the principles that the Republicans stood for would guide the Republicans to do what was best for the country. I thought I would see a higher moral standard. What we got was corruption, bribes, moral decline, hearings with no action, tax breaks for big business, McCain Feingold and last year 15,000 earmarks. We got a Republican majority in the Senate and a President who thinks the best way to handle the illegal alien problem is to give them amnesty. And just last month we had a great break through with the North Koreans where they agreed to not do what they agreed to not do under Clinton. How much will all this cost the American citizens this time?

There has to be a change in Presidential and Congressional leadership to affect change in this country. There has to be a way to get the professional politicians out and statesmen in. Those politicians who vote only for the sake of the party, lobbyist or big business have to be removed. To bring about substantial changes in the government true statesmen must control the House, Senate and the White House.
