On December 7, a new movie opens by the name of The Golden Compass. It seems to be a harmless movie targeting children, but the underlying theme is definitely harmful.
The movie is based upon Northern Lights which is one of famous author and atheist Philip Pullman. His series of books takes direct aim at the Chronicles of Narnia and even Pullman himself claims that the intent of the book series is to kill God. He has been labeled the most dangerous author in Britain by conservative columnist Peter Hitchens for having implemented his atheist and humanist views to children through a series of books.
Now many churches and religious leaders have condemned the movie and have called for a boycott while reminding parents that the underlying theme of the movie and book series is to turn away from God. I also give strong warning to parents hoping that Christian parents will take a better look at what their children are watching on TV and reading both at school and at home. So, if you were thinking about taking your kids to The Golden Compass, be careful that children don't become too attached to "killing God".
