“A 20-year-old pro-life activist, Kristi Burton, leader of Colorado for Equal Rights, is among the key players behind the personhood movement, a multistate, no-compromise strategy aimed at outlawing abortion by declaring unborn children to be ‘persons’ under the law,” per Valerie Richardson of The Washington Times.
“Miss Burton's group is working to gather the 76,000 signatures necessary to place the measure on the November ballot. Even opponents concede that the proposal will probably qualify, given Colorado's relatively low bar for initiatives.
“If approved, the implications would be enormous. Both sides agree the measure would be challenged immediately in court, with the endgame being a U.S. Supreme Court showdown over the constitutionality of the Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that made abortion a constitutional right nationwide.
“The notion that Roe is incompatible with the fetus's being a person comes from Justice Harry Blackmun, who wrote the Roe decision.”
What is encouraging is not only the premise but that the next generation is committed. The pro-life movement could die off in one generation. Instead, these young adults are at the forefront of an aggressive showdown that informs media it won’t cave in.
This reminds me of God’s grace for the unborn. He oversees the demonic abortuaries. God weeps. However, in a spiritually fallen sphere there is much to cry over.
However, since our first parents disobeyed the divine command, God has sought out those who seek to redeem what is lost. In the personhood movement, that is just what is happening with a new zeal.
Further, these personhood enthusiasts realize that God is on their side. In addition, they know that even when the womb baby killers slay the innocent, God rescues that little one’s soul for heaven.
The abortuaries are sending countless souls into God’s embrace forever. In the meantime, personhood movement engineers work day and night to keep females from destroying the children inside their bodies.
