Bible Course in Public Schools
April 26, 2008 10:00 AM EST

Tennessee Dem Sen Roy Herron wants the Bible taught in public schools.

It would be a course with “an approved textbook in a manner consistent with the state and federal constitutions” per AP.

At present lawmakers are deliberating the bill that would permit Tennessee Department of Education to formulate such a “nonsectarian Bible course.”

America has a Judeo-Christian heritage. It is not Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist or animist. It is Judeo-Christian. There are those who want to erase that heritage for a totally secularized society.

Those who defend the heritage continuance work daily to keep it intact. That is what Herron desires. He believes that Bible in public schools is a bulwark for endorsing the Judeo-Christian heritage on into the future.

Barbara Walters on her TV “View” program stated that as a child she was reared in basically a secularized sphere. She now wishes that she knew more about the Bible, for according to her she knows very little. With that, she said that she wished the Bible were taught in public schools for future generations to have what she did not have, that is, a childhood understanding of the Scriptures.

In addition, biblical believers continue their personal daily devotions that includes Bible ready. Many Christian households also read the Bible as families as well as consistently attend Bible studies and worship.

America’s biblical preachers remain true to the Scriptures as the Word of God while theologically liberal denominations are substituting the Bible with moral relativism, rewriting Scripture in the context of “situation ethics.” These denominations are separating drastically from the biblically loyal denominations.

America is spiritually strong when its public and private schools teach the Judeo-Christian holy writ alongside the local church hearing the Bible expounded as the reliable Word of God.
